What is self storage & how does it work?

Self-storage, originally an American concept, allows you to store your personal items flexibly. At SpaceGenie, you can securely store everything from furniture to boats in a clean, dry space. It's an ideal substitute for your basement or attic and can also be used for business storage needs. We even offer parking for cars and RVs!

From furniture to vehicles, storage units can be used for a wide range of items. Please avoid storing perishables, hazardous materials, and items that could disturb others or pose environmental risks. Check our terms for a detailed list.

No, it is against the law to live in a storage unit.

You cannot register your business at your storage unit. However, SpaceGenie is committed to offering business-friendly storage solutions. Our storage units provide convenient and affordable space to store inventory, parts and materials for small and large businesses.

Our units are designed for storage only. Using them as workshops or for activities that could harm the environment is not allowed.

Our units come with electricity and limited internet access. For more details, feel free to reach out to us through the contact page on your customer portal.

While high voltage power isn't available, each unit has household electricity to meet your basic needs.

Yes, each of our parks is looked after by a dedicated caretaker they are only available at limited times to maintain smooth running of the facility.

Moving into your storage unit

After successful payment and ID verification through our online booking system, you will get an access code for the main gate and instructions on downloading a mobile app to open your unit. All our facilities feature a secure digital entry system giving you the most flexibility to share access with friends, family and colleagues.

Manage your lease easily by logging into to your customer portal on the website, using the email address and password created during booking. Here, you can view all rental agreement details at any time.

You will need to raise a termination request either through your customer portal or you can click on the "Terminate contract" button on the footer of the website. We will be in touch soon after we receive your message. You can purchase the correct storage unit for your needs while we process your cancellation, or you can wait until your termination request is processed. Contract T&Cs apply.

Electricity usage is tracked via an individual meter for each unit, ensuring you only pay for what you use beyond the included flat rate.

Long-term parking is not allowed. Please ensure parking is temporary and does not obstruct access to other units or emergency routes.

Purchasing a storage space

Booking is as easy as 1-2-3: Select your location and unit, fill in the booking form and payment details, and receive instant access to your unit. Enjoy 24/7 access to your storage!

At present, we only accept reservations online. On our website, we provide you with a size guide, 3D tours and pictures for all of our facilities. If you need any more help, send us a message through chat system on our website. We will be in touch as soon as possible.

Sure! Please book your first unit, where we will create a customer account for you. If you want to book another unit, you can login and purchase your second unit. If you have any problems booking a storage unit, please contact us through the help center for the quickest reply. You can view and manage all the storage units purchases through the customer portal.

We allow storage units to be booked up to 7 days in advance.

Choose from several convenient payment options including Direct Debit or credit cards like VISA, Mastercard, and American Express. For convenience you can also pay with wallets like Paypal, Google pay and Apple Pay!

How to choose a storage unit

Our storage spaces and garages range from 21 to 114 square meters, catering to all your storage needs.

Yes! Our 21sqm unit is perfect for most small to medium size cars. For RVs and larger vehicles, consider one of our other larger sizes.

Managing your account and payments

You will be charged a late fee, please see your contract. Late fees cannot be waived. You are automatically invoiced for each late reminder and you must pay the full balance including the total late fees.

If you forgot your password, you can reset it by clicking 'Forgot password' in the customer portal. If you cannot remember the email address you used to sign up - please send a message on the website chat system with your name, address, facility you purchased a storage unit at and we will be in touch.

Termination

Ending your contract is straightforward: just submit a request through our customer portal, you need to sign in using the email address and password you selected when purchasing the storage unit. Click on bookings, terminate a contract, select the unit you with to request termination and follow the steps. Remember, there's a notice period of 1 month to the end of the month. Contract terms and conditions apply.

Yes, we require a notice period of 1 month to the end of the month for contract terminations.

Please return the unit in the condition it was received by the termination date, you can find the termination date in your contract (contract available for download through our customer portal).

Make sure your unit is completely empty, clean the unit ahead of your scheduled move out date. After the termination date, access to your unit will be revoked automatically.

Your deposit will be refunded without interest after the lease ends, minus any costs for cleaning, repairs, or unsettled claims.
